One of BC’s top destination resort centres, Penticton and Wine Country is seeing the same tough market conditions as other world tourist hot spots. Smart travellers are finding early season bargains galore. A recent announcement by the popular Golden Sands Beach Resort of special motel room pricing for earlybird vacationers follows similar deals offered by the Tiki Shores Beach Resort on their blog with their Penticton escapes and getaways. Similarly, on its blog the Crown Resort Motel, another popular place to stay, offers an early season last-minute escape.
With its semi-arid climate, warm sunshine and abundance of recreational possibilities, Penticton and the surrounding countryside, known as “Wine Country” for the large number of wineries found there, has been a popular destination for sun-seekers from Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, Calgary, Edmonton, Spokane and Seattle. Golfers have a good selection of course to choose from, making Penticton a favourite choice for Albertans in particular, whose courses are just starting to be ready.
Local hospitality operators are looking to this strategy to retain visitors, many of whom return to the city year after year.
