A painting of Penticton’s landmark S.S. Sicamous by E.J. Heffel was sold at auction June 17 by the Heffel Gallery for C$128,700. The painting had been estimated to bring between C$75,000 and C$95,000. Hughes painted the watercolour in 1994, based on sketches he made during a 1959 visit to Penticton.
